Officers responded to a 10-acre mansion on Hawkins Lane at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, according to police, where there was an ongoing party with upwards of 400 guests in attendance.

It reportedly took multiple police units several hours to sort out the guests and clear them out of the house safely.

Suffolk County Police Chief Stuart Cameron reportedly said that the property’s owner was the one who alerted authorities to the party.

The party was in violation of the state’s 10-person limit to in-person indoor gatherings. The host will face a fine of up to $15,000, as per New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order issued last month.

On Tuesday, Dec. 1, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone lamented that the overall positivity rate in the county topped 5 percent for the first time since May, when the virus was first peaking across the state.

“With cases on the rise, now is the time to double down on common-sense measures that work,” he said. “No matter what you are doing, social distancing & mask guidelines are essential to defeating this virus.”
